Description:
The Songs and Dances of the Masses in the Golden Age of Spain] In the 16th and 17th centuries, Spain enjoyed a short springtime as an "empire that never set in the sun," holding many colonies from Europe to the New Continent and from the Pacific to Southeast Asia. The masses also pursued their own pleasures, and the culture of the country, for better or for worse, showed great development. This album is a collection of songs that were passed down among the townspeople of Spain around 1600. The songs range from cheerful but somewhat troubled songs to dances with a hint of immorality. This is a piece that gives one a sense of the strength of the masses, who eventually threaten the rulers of the country from the inside. Raquel Anduesa, born in Spain, has been active throughout Europe as a soprano of ancient music, and has gained great popularity for her technique and beautiful voice, which she freely uses from clear singing to sensual expression. She has performed with conductors such as Christy and Biondi, and with ensembles such as L'Arpeggiata and Ri Incogniti, and in 2010 she formed her own ancient instrument ensemble, La Galania, with the theorbo player Baena. It is still fresh in our minds that they have visited Japan in 2016 and 2018, attracting many music fans.
