Czerny, Carl (1791-1857)
Description:
A collection of Czerny's four-hand sonatas with ad-libs for Vn and Vc! Carl Czerny (1791-1857) studied composition with Beethoven, Clementi, and Hummel, had Liszt and Resheticki as teachers, and in his lifetime produced 861 works with work numbers alone, or over 1000 if unpublished. In recent years, Czerny's achievements have received renewed attention, and here comes a "Sonata Collection" with three different "characteristic" titles for four hands, plus violin and cello ad-libs! With titles like "Sentimental," "Military," and "Rural," these sonatas are superb works, each with a strong individuality built on its brilliant expressive foundation. Florentine piano duo Sara Bartolucci and Rodolfo Alessandrini have been together for more than 30 years, and here again they showcase their outstanding combination. The Duo Pianistico di Firenze's performance proves once again that Czerny was more than a music teacher; he was one of the greatest composers of his time. Tokyo M-Plus
