Castelnuovo-Tedesco (1895-1968)
Description:
Castelnuovo-Tedesco was one of the most successful and notable Italian composers of the first half of the 20th century. His neoclassical-influenced style is vivid, brilliant, occasionally strange and dissonant, strongly rhythmic, and full of easily received melodies. He is also famous for having moved to Hollywood before World War II, where he composed more than 200 film scores. He also began to write music for guitar when he met Andres Segovia, a guitarist who was active worldwide, and guitar music became the most substantial part of his oeuvre. This recording is a complete collection of works for solo guitar written in Italy before the composer's exile to the United States in 1939, and contains music with wonderful melodies and a truly Italian atmosphere.
