The Protection Group Denmark PGD DELTA is a NIJ 0101.04 Level IIIA concealable soft body armor vest manufactured entirely at PGD's ISO 9001:2015-certified factory in Denmark. Rated to stop .44 Magnum SJHP at 436 m/s and 9mm FMJ at 439 m/s, it adds NIJ 0115.00 S1 stab protection up to 36 joules and a STANAG 2920 V50 fragmentation rating of 592 m/s. At 6.7 mm thick and 2.00 kg (4.41 lbs) in a medium, the DELTA carries Teijin ballistic material at 5.6 kg/m² and ships with built-in ESAPI plate pockets front and back. Available in sizes S through 5XL in Black, White, and Navy Blue.
The DELTA is tested to NIJ 0101.04 Level IIIA, the highest NIJ soft-armor protection level against small-arms handgun threats. The two primary test rounds are .44 Magnum SJHP at 436 m/s (±9 m/s) and 9mm FMJ RN at 439 m/s (±9 m/s). If threats beyond handgun calibers are anticipated, built-in pockets accept ESAPI hard armor plates front and back to extend coverage.
Stab protection is independently rated to NIJ 0115.00 S1 using an SG1 blade at 36 joules — nearly double the 20-joule baseline that defines adequate stab resistance for a soft armor vest. Fragmentation resistance is validated to STANAG 2920 with a V50 rating of 592 m/s against a 17-grain fragment, covering shrapnel and explosive debris threats relevant to high-risk operational environments.
| Standard | Projectile / Blade | Velocity / Energy |

| NIJ 0101.04 Level IIIA | 9mm FMJ RN | 439 m/s ±9 |
| NIJ 0115.00 S1 | SG1 blade | 36 joules |

At 6.7 mm, the DELTA's ballistic panel sits among the thinnest NIJ IIIA profiles available. Teijin's fiber construction delivers a rated 10/10 flexibility score, so the panel conforms to body movement rather than resisting it. The result is a vest that follows the body's contours closely enough to disappear under a standard dress shirt or light jacket.
The carrier is lined with Outlast® PCM (Phase Change Material) technology, originally developed for NASA applications. Unlike conventional mesh liners that only wick moisture away, Outlast® PCM absorbs excess body heat when you run warm and releases it when you cool down — maintaining a stable microclimate against the skin. This active thermal regulation supports continuous wear of 12 to 14 hours per day without the discomfort that causes wearers to remove the vest mid-shift.
The vest is cut to fit both male and female body shapes. Sizes run from S (60–70 cm torso) through 5XL (130–140 cm torso), covering the full range of operational builds.
Each ballistic panel ships in a 100% water-resistant TPU cover sealed with ultrasonic technology, creating a seal that blocks sweat and moisture from reaching the ballistic fibers. Because the seal is continuous rather than stitched, there are no seam gaps for liquid ingress. This construction supports the 7-year ballistic panel warranty — two years beyond the standard industry requirement. The textile carrier carries a separate 2-year warranty. Follow the care instructions included with the vest; the ultrasonic-sealed panel itself does not require laundering.
The DELTA ships as a complete system — Outlast® carrier plus ballistic panels — sized by torso circumference. Use the size chart above to match your torso measurement to the correct size before ordering. The DELTA panels are also compatible with the PGD ALPHA carrier if you prefer an alternate shell. NIJ Level IIIA is the highest soft-armor protection level in the NIJ 0101.04 standard and covers handgun threats up to .44 Magnum SJHP and 9mm FMJ at test velocities above 430 m/s. The DELTA also stops stabs up to 36 joules (NIJ 0115.00 S1) and fragments at a V50 of 592 m/s (STANAG 2920). It does not stop rifle calibers; add ESAPI hard plates to the built-in pockets for rifle-threat mitigation.
No. NIJ IIIA soft armor is rated for handgun threats only. To address rifle threats, the DELTA's built-in front and back plate pockets accept ESAPI hard armor plates sized to the vest's size group (S ESAPI for S–M vests; M ESAPI for L–XL; M or L ESAPI for 2XL–5XL).
The Outlast® PCM carrier lining is engineered for continuous wear of 12 to 14 hours. By actively balancing body temperature — absorbing heat when you are warm and releasing it when you cool — it reduces the fatigue and overheating that typically cause wearers to remove a vest mid-duty. The 6.7 mm panel thickness and 10/10 flexibility rating contribute to all-day wearability as well.
The ballistic panel itself does not require washing — the ultrasonic-sealed TPU cover provides a 100% water-resistant barrier against sweat and moisture. The textile carrier can be laundered per the included care instructions. Do not machine-wash the sealed ballistic panel.
The ballistic panels carry a 7-year warranty — two years longer than the industry standard requirement. The Outlast® textile carrier carries a separate 2-year warranty. The extended panel warranty reflects confidence in the integrity of the ultrasonic TPU seal, which keeps moisture away from the ballistic fibers for the service life of the vest.
The DELTA cannot be shipped to New York or Connecticut due to state body armor restrictions. It is subject to US export regulations. Under 18 U.S.C. § 931, anyone with a federal felony conviction for a crime of violence is prohibited from purchasing or possessing body armor.
