The SRAM Maven is a brute-force brake system which can be enhanced & fine-tuned to your needs.

The SRAM Maven is the most powerful MTB-specific brake on the market; that would be a hard statement to argue regardless of how subjective bike-related components can be.

From our testing we found that the Maven really benefits from creating a divide or bias from front brake to rear brake. What we mean: we preferred a larger rotor up front with the Gold Label HD compound, and a smaller rear rotor with the Red Label compound. This kept us from accidentally locking up the rear wheel and tossing the bulk of the braking power up front where (most) riders need it.

Again this was best for low-traction conditions (loose gravel & rocks, dry hard dirt). The purpose of this explanation is to illustrate the power you have to fine-tune your brake system in order to suit your needs.
