This was the most expensive Yamaha classical guitar in Australia in the early '70s early ’80s until Yamaha introduced the G-255.

It was made in Japan in June 1976.

This was just below the luthier-made Grand Concert Series.

The retail price of this was equal to 2 weeks' wage.

I have modified and enhanced the top to make it louder, more resonant and with more harmonics. The basses are deep and tight, while the trebles are sweet and warm.

The rosewood back and sides help give the sound a deeper and more resonant tone.

This early version has higher grade tonewood as materials and labour were more affordable. The later iterations of this guitar were made from cheaper tonewood such as mahogany and with no embellishment such as pufflings.

Like other manufacturers in the 60s-70s, Yamaha often used cedar and spruce interchangeably. This guitar has a high-grade cedar top.

The headstock also features the double line ornament, typically found on the Grand Concert series.

The guitar is in fantastic condition considering it's 49 years old. It has some minor signs of wear but none that will affect its beautiful tone.
