Reissued by Ligne Roset in 2023, the Tanis Bedside Table was originally designed by Pierre Paulin in 1954 to accompany his Tanis desk. The design follows the same aesthetic and material specifications as the desk, featuring a minimalist silhouette that fits into both modern and mid-century interiors. It is designed to function as either a bedside unit or a sofa end table, offering a versatile surface for varied residential spaces.
The construction of the table utilises a black lacquered steel base, which supports a top surface and a storage drawer. In keeping with the finishes of the wider Tanis collection, the unit combines a black soft-touch laminate with natural walnut veneer on the drawer front. These materials are chosen for their durability and contrast, reflecting the functionalist principles Paulin established in the 1950s.
In a home setting, the Tanis bedside table provides a compact and organised storage solution. Its square-section frame and clean lines ensure it maintains a light visual footprint, making it suitable for smaller bedrooms or living areas. It is a sturdy, well-proportioned piece of furniture that maintains the continuity of a historical design while using updated, resilient finishes for daily use.
