Berg and Mahler by Rolf Verbeek, a conductor and arranger mainly in the Netherlands, and Camerata RCO, a chamber ensemble organized by members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. For Berg's "Seven Early Songs," the version arranged from the original piano score by Rainbert de Leeuw, who was a pianist (and who may have also referred to the orchestral version by the composer himself), and for "Four Songs," percussionist with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic and orchestrator of De Mey's "Lord of the Rings" The Four Romances uses a version by Henk de Vriehel, a percussionist with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra who is also known for his orchestral arrangements of De Mey's The Lord of the Rings. Mahler's Symphony No. 4 was arranged for the "Private Performance Society" by Erwin Stein, a pupil of Schoenberg. This album is a recording of a non-participant performance for streaming, recorded at De Doolen in Rotterdam. It is a live performance unique to this era. (C)RS
