Description:
Born in Vienna in 1858, Hans Lott was a composer who struggled as a freelance musician before succumbing to mental illness and dying at the age of 25. Lott's name is remembered by his Symphony No. 1 in E major, and this long-awaited new recording by the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and its chief conductor, Jakub Frusha, features Lott at the center of this recording, along with Lott's organ teacher, Anton Bruckner's "Symphonic Prelude," and his friend and student at the Vienna Academy of Music, Gustav Mahler's "Symphonic Prelude" and "Symphony No. 2 in E Major," which is also included on this recording. Gustav Mahler's "Flower Chapter" is included, shedding new light on Lott's work, which should be placed at the center of the symphonic repertoire. (C)RS
