Bujazzo
Description:
BuJazzO, a German youth orchestra founded by Peter Herbolzheimer in 1988, has a history of more than a quarter of a century. This is a tribute to the Clarke-Boran Big Band, consisting of American drummer Kenny Clarke and Belgian pianist/arranger Francie Boran. BuJazzO" has won several prestigious German awards, including the German Music Prise (1997), the WDR Jazz Prize (2010), and Echo Jazz (2012). The music of big band masters such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Glenn Miller is the foundation of the band, and the arrangements and scores are not complicated, with the goal of making the music accessible to everyone. The sound is easy to understand and clear. This album features performances from 12 live concerts in 2019. The energy, passion, and extraordinary swing of this band is well documented. The album features wonderful arrangements of well-known standards by Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Arthur Schwartz, Richard Rodgers, and others. There is a vocal track with a jazz chorus in the middle of the song, so you will never get tired of it. This is a must for big band fans and standard jazz fans alike.
