Description:
Carissimi was a composer of the Italian Baroque period. Although his detailed birth date and other details of his life are unknown, he became the conductor of the chapel in Assisi around the age of 20, and in 1628 he became the music director of the church attached to the German seminary in Rome, a post he held until his death. It is said that he gained fame not only in Rome's musical circles but also throughout Europe, and German musicians such as Kerl and Krieger came to study under his tutelage. As of 2017, there are 13 oratorios by Carissimi, and as more research is done, the number may increase. As further research continues, the number of works may increase. Naxos Japan
