Inlaid with an image of St George slaying the dragon, this is a most interesting, unusual and decorative table. In addition to being the patron saint of England, St George is the patron saint of, and venerated in, Greece, Venice, Genoa and Portugal. This strengthens our opinion that this table originates from Continental Europe and particularly Italy. The inlaid top has canted corners and is supported by a decorated turned column and stands on a quatro form base. The table stands well. There are minor signs of age and historic restoration to the pedestal and top, these are compatible with age. A very striking and decorative marquetry side or occasional table.
