Yuri Martynov
Description:
Two piano sonatas by Schubert played by Yuri Martinov, one of the leading contemporary Russian pianists, born in 1969. He was the first person in Russia to play Bach's "Mean Clavier Works" on the clavichord, and is also a specialist in Renaissance and Baroque music performance in Russia. Although Martinov specializes in harpsichord and organ, the two Schubert pieces recorded here in 2006 are both performed on modern piano (Steinway) and show a completely different expression from the Baroque works. The slow tempo of these two pieces will captivate the listener's ear by slowly depicting the dense world of Schubert's late works. Naxos Japan
