Reaching around 2m tall by 1.5m wide at 10 years. Happy in full sun, though it tolerates some shade on most soils, and grows well in reasonably drained soil and is drought-tolerant once established. Notable for attractive brown bark. Reliably hardy across most of the UK and valuable for wildlife, attracting bees and birds. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
