Why this model matters
The AD60 Class Garratt was the largest steam locomotive to operate in Australia. Built by Beyer Peacock between 1952 and 1956, these massive 4-8-4+4-8-4 articulated locomotives were designed to haul heavy freight across the NSW rail network. Locomotive 6029 has been restored to operation and is one of the most celebrated preserved steam engines in Australia.
The NSW Transport Heritage plain black livery reflects the locomotive’s preserved appearance and makes this model a standout centrepiece for any Australian HO scale collection.
How to use it
Place the locomotive on HO gauge track and operate using a compatible DCC controller to access full sound and lighting functions. The model can also be used on suitable layouts designed to handle long articulated steam locomotives. Refer to the included instruction manual for decoder programming and function mapping.
Gift Suggestion
An exceptional gift for Australian railway enthusiasts, advanced HO scale modellers, and collectors who appreciate iconic steam locomotives with realistic digital sound.
This is a detailed collector’s model. It is not a toy and is recommended for ages 14 and over.
