Description:
Schandor Weg (1912-1997) was a renowned violinist who founded the Weg Quartet, a valuable collaboration between Schandor Weg and the Vienna Philharmonic, and began his conducting career around the end of the 1960s. Many of his performances of Haydn and Mozart with the Camerata Academica Salzburg remain. Weg conducted the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for the first time in 1991, late in his career. This recording is a live performance from the Mozart Week concert on January 30, 1992. It was praised as a monumental performance, especially for the way he made the strings sing. King International
