Nils Henrik Asheim is a multifaceted composer, organist, pianist, curator, and leader of programming and artistic collaborations. The Book of Psalms was created for the dedication of the new "Rüde & Berg" organ installed in Oslo Cathedral in 1998. The work is based on Psalm 1, "How blessed is the Lord," to Psalm 148, "Hallelujah. Praise the wine in heaven" and "Sound the cymbals," a work of about one hour with simple, lyrical music and complex, chaotic-sounding music to texts taken from the 21 chapters of the "Psalms" of the "Old Testament". Vivian Schudnes, artistic director of the cathedral's cantor and choir, conducted, with cathedral organist Kåre Norstoga playing the choir organ and Asheim the main organ. Tokyo M-Plus
