Why this kit matters
The Martin B-26 Marauder was a fast twin-engine medium bomber developed for the United States Army Air Forces. Early in service it gained a difficult reputation because of its high landing speed, though training improvements later made it one of the most successful bombers in American service. The B-26B became one of the key production variants used in European operations.
"Flak Bait" became one of the most famous Marauders after surviving more than 200 combat missions with the 322nd Bombardment Group over Europe. Its name reflected the heavy anti-aircraft fire it repeatedly endured while returning safely from missions. Today it remains one of the best known surviving USAAF bombers, making this 1/48 scale plastic model kit especially meaningful for historical aircraft collections.
