Hvitserkur is always a delight to photograph, though reaching it requires dedication. The journey adds an extra hour each way, navigating uneven gravel roads riddled with potholes. But as soon as I set my eyes on this natural rock formation standing defiantly offshore, I knew the effort was worth it. On this serene summer evening, I was greeted by a perfectly rippled black sand beach. As if placed there just for this shot, a moss-covered stone in the foreground created a striking contrast against the dark sand, making the composition truly special.

Hvitserkur, often called the "Rhino Rock," is a 50-foot (15-meter) basalt sea stack off the coast of northwest Iceland. Shaped by centuries of wind and waves, this unique formation has inspired countless legends. Some say it resembles a dragon drinking from the sea, while others see a rhino or an elephant. The area is known for its dramatic tidal patterns, birdlife, and striking volcanic landscapes, making it a must-visit destination for photographers and nature lovers.
