This rare Yamaha GD-10C is a premium Japanese classical guitar, crafted in September 1975 under the guidance of renowned Yamaha luthier Michihiro Matsushita. It represents the pinnacle of Yamaha’s Grand Concert series of the era - built for projection, clarity, and tonal richness.

This particular guitar has a solid cedar top, which lends it a warm, mature character, warmer and deeper than its spruce-topped counterpart. The basses are full and resonant, while the trebles sing with sweetness and clarity, making it ideal for expressive classical and fingerstyle playing.

Personal Provenance

This instrument was my personal guitar for many years and a trusted companion in my teaching studio. Over time, due to Australia’s warm and dry climate, the top developed two cracks. These have been professionally repaired, with the cedar top receiving an enhancement that improved both tone and durability.

To further refine its voice, I’ve personally tuned the top to the notes of G and C, enhancing its natural resonance and tonal balance. The result is a guitar with rich sustain, a deep low end, and crystal-clear highs - ideal for both solo and ensemble settings.
