Description:
Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, who gained popularity for "Mobile Suit Gundam" and "Crusher Joe," adapted the comic of the same title that was serialized in the manga magazine "Ryu" (published by Tokuma Shoten) into a feature-length film for theaters. Yoshikazu Yasuhiko plays five roles: writer, director, scriptwriter, character designer, and animation director. Based on Greek mythology, the film depicts the growth of a lost boy on a grand scale, with a running time of 119 minutes and a total of 2,060 cuts. The film was composed by science fiction writer Chiaki Kawamata, and popular manga artist Ryoko Yamagishi created the characters' costumes as character design assistance. The inclusion of such blood from outside the animation world added to the depth of the work. The music was composed by Joe Hisaishi, who became famous for his work on "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" and has been a regular in the works of Hayao Miyazaki and Takeshi Kitano since then. The exoticism of the Mediterranean world is created through the unique choice of tones and skillful composition. Yoshikazu Yasuhiko later shifted his field of activity from the animation world to the manga world. In this sense, "Arion" is a major milestone in his career as an artist.
