Miles Davis
Description:
Since his solo debut in 1947, Miles Davis, the king of the modern jazz scene, has continued to create new jazz music at the forefront of the times, including cool jazz, hard bop, mode jazz, electric jazz, and hip-hop jazz. Even after his death, he continues to influence musicians in various genres, and is greatly respected by them. This is a rare archive of Miles Davis's live recordings that have never been released on CD. This album features the performance at the Jazz Festival in Poland on October 30, 1988 during his European tour in 1988. The alto saxophonist was Kenny Garrett, who was with Art Blakey's The Jazz Messengers in 1986, Ricky Wellman on drums, and the keyboards were then twinned with Adam Holtzman and Robert Irving III, but for five weeks of this European tour only, Joey DeFrancesco and Holtzman were in charge. On bass are Benny Rietveld and Joe Foley McCreary. The latter plays a guitar-like role in higher tunings, and percussion is by Marilyn Mazur. This is a must-listen album for fans of the band, featuring a selection of songs from the 1980s, including songs from "In A Silent Way" and "TUTU".
