An original, completely handmade linocut print which has been designed and printed in Devon, UK. Part of the Foraged & Found Collection, an ongoing series based on natural history, nostalgia and memory.
Farthings are long considered lucky, especially for sailors - who placed such coins under a ship's mast to ensure a safe journey.
Lucky Farthing 'Tails' has the beloved wren as its mascot. Historically called 'king of the birds' for their bravery, resilience, and wisdom, wrens signify the power to persevere through challenging situations. A tiny body holds a powerful song, and in Celtic lore these characterful birds are also said to herald messages for the future. The design is based on an early pre-World War 2 1938 coin and is the companion print to 'Heads' which features King George VI.
This print is a Limited Edition of 20, and each one is titled and signed by me. The design is printed onto beautiful and sustainable Nepalese Lokta (tree bark) paper.
DIMENSIONS:
Printed image size: 3.15" diameter
Total size (incl. paper): 5" x 6" approx.

Important: I cannot guarantee that your printed item will be the exact one shown in the example photographs in the shop. As everything is handmade, there will inevitably be some slight variations with each printing; likewise coloured prints with hand-mixed inks may vary slightly in pigment between batches. This is all part of the charm and uniqueness of your purchase, as no two items will be exactly the same! If the paper has been cut or torn by hand, please also expect very minor differences in size.
