Galectin-3, also known as LGALS3, is a prominent member of the beta-galactoside-binding animal lectin family. It is unique as the only chimeric galectin containing a carbohydrate recognition domain (CRD) linked to an extended N-terminal proline- and glycine-rich domain. Widely expressed by myeloid cells, macrophages, and endothelial cells, Galectin-3 is a multifunctional protein regulating cell adhesion, macrophage polarization, innate immunity, and T-cell dynamics. Its overexpression in the tumor microenvironment is strongly linked to tumor transformation, metastasis, and immune evasion, making it an essential target for cancer drug discovery and fibroinflammatory disease research.
This site-specifically biotinylated human Galectin-3 protein is fully optimized for robust performance in functional target-binding studies, carbohydrate-binding assays, high-throughput screening (HTS) of small molecule inhibitors, Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), Bio-Layer Interferometry (BLI), and streptavidin-coated plate ELISA layouts.
