Knysna Township: Spirit of the Garden Route

Inspired by the vibrant communities of Knysna’s townships—Khayalethu, Concordia, Nekkies, and Bongani—this handcrafted 3-D artwork captures the warmth, culture, and everyday rhythm of life along the Garden Route. Rooted in rich Xhosa heritage and inspired by the spirit of communities such as Judah Square, home to Southern Africa’s largest Rastafari settlement, it reflects a story of diversity, resilience, and belonging.

Handcrafted in Knysna by artisans Steven, Theresa, and Mzwandile, each limited-edition piece is meticulously created using recycled and naturally collected materials. Rich in texture and detail, the artwork presents a miniature “snapshot” of township life—alive with colour, movement, and human connection.
