Description:
Blue Note Reimagined" (2020) was a reinterpretation of classic Blue Note tunes by some of the UK's finest jazz musicians, including Jorja Smith, Shabaka Hutchings, Alpha Mist, and Jordan Rakai. It has been two years since its release, and now the long-awaited second release has been announced! This time, too, many of the hottest names in the future of the UK jazz world have gathered. The ten members of the band include Igo Ella May, a singer representing London's neo-soul scene; Oscar Jerome, who has made a splash with his collaboration with WONK; Maya Delilah, who has a hit song with Sam Henshaw; Ruben James, a Grammy winner and a child prodigy; and the ten members of Leeds' College of Music, who have been performing in the UK for the past two years. The group includes Nubian Twist, a 10-piece jazz collective formed at the College of Music in Leeds, and others, who have recorded their own unique interpretations of many of Blue Note's classic songs. The songs on the program include such standards as Thelonious Monk's "Epistrophe" and Marina Shaw's "Feel Like Making Love", as well as Norah Jones' "Don't No Why" and "Sunrise" and Cassandra Wilson's cover of Neil Young's "Harvest Moon", which was a big hit in the 1990s and later. The selection of songs from the 1990s and later is also noteworthy. And this time, BIGYUKI from Japan will participate! Bobby Hutcherson's "The Creators" was chosen for this album, and BIGYUKI's unique arrangement of the song, while maintaining the taste of the original, makes it a must-hear. This song is included as a limited bonus track.
