Description:
The music of Maki Ishii, who studied under Josef Rufer, "a pupil of Schoenberg and Berg" at the Berlin University of Music, where he learned to compose using the 12-tone technique. While he used this technique as the basis for his compositions, he also took into consideration traditional Japanese music to create his own unique music. His music is a mixture of a variety of sounds brought about by various special techniques and coincidence, which also brings about a certain sense of euphoria. In the four pieces on this album, we can see Ishii's struggle to fuse the percussion instruments and even electronic music with Japanese sound elements. Naxos Japan
