Lubrithal Eye Gel is a veterinary ophthalmic lubricant formulated to support tear film stability and relieve symptoms of dry eye (keratoconjunctivitis sicca) in cats and dogs. Manufactured by Dechra Veterinary Products, this gel is designed for pets suffering from reduced tear production or ocular irritation. Its carbomer-based formula mimics natural tear viscosity, providing long-lasting hydration and comfort.

Ingredients

• Active Components:
  • Carbomer (polyacrylic acid) – a synthetic polymer that retains moisture and stabilizes tear film
• Other Ingredients:
  • Purified water
  • Sodium hydroxide (pH adjustment)
  • Disodium edetate (preservative)
  • Cetrimide (antimicrobial preservative)

Uses / Indications

• Lubrithal Eye Gel is indicated for:
• Management of keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS) or dry eye syndrome
• Supportive care for pets with reduced tear production
• Use in pets with ocular irritation due to environmental factors
• Adjunctive therapy with immunomodulators (e.g. cyclosporine) in chronic dry eye cases

Dosage

• Dosage: Apply 1 drop into each affected eye, 1–2 times daily, or as directed by a veterinarian
• Administration:
  • Wash hands before use
  • Gently pull down the lower eyelid and apply the gel
  • Avoid touching the applicator tip to the eye or any surface
  • Can be used concurrently with other prescribed eye medications (apply Lubrithal last)

Possible Side Effects

• Mild transient blurring of vision immediately after application
• Rare cases of local irritation or hypersensitivity
• If signs of discomfort persist, discontinue use and consult a veterinarian

Precautions

• For external ophthalmic use only
• Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to any ingredients
• Store at room temperature below 25°C
• Keep out of reach of children
• Use within 30 days of opening
