Beautiful 1880s bodice and skirt in a deep rose and cream white floral print. All cotton. The bodice buttons up the front with small white buttons (replacements at one time). It has a narrow banded collar. Long, shaped sleeves with easing gathers at the elbow. 12 gores make up the fitted bodice which has a pointed back at the waist. The skirt is very full and includes a pocket on the right side. It closes in the back with a hook and eye. It is lined with white cotton which has a box pleated ruffle at the hem. It has been shortened at the horizontal pleat at about knee length and could easily be let down again if desired. The outer skirt has a 5.75” hem. Shown with a bustle. This was likely made for a tween aged girl. It was recently shown in a fashion show and modeled by a 10 or 11 year old girl. The hem was tacked up (has now been let back down) to fit her.
Very good condition for the age. There’s been a repair to the bodice on the back near the top right shoulder. There is some yellowing to the bodice but nothing very dark and could be lightened if you want to hand wash it.
There are small holes from darts that were removed on the front of the bodice.
