The spurs are silver plated.
They have steel inserts which would fit into "boxes" in the heel of the boot.
The arms and straight necks of the spurs are embossed with shamrocks.
The rose shaped rowels are similarly decorated.
This is unusual, most similar examples also have roses and thistles as part of their decoration, so preumably these spurs were for an officer in the Irish Guards or the Royal Irish Regiment.
Each neck is stamped "Maxwell" (a famous London boot & spurmaker).
The steel parts of the spurs are also stamped with Maxwell's late nineteenth century address , 185, Piccadilly, London.
The spurs have some scratches and scars from use.
Internal width 6.7cm (approx 2½"), neck 5.2cm (2"), rowel 2.5cm (1")
