The ichthus was used among Christians in hiding to display meeting places for everyone to meet and worship, and could be spotted on trees, doorways, or even tombs.

The ichthus fish continues to hold deep meaning for Christians today as a reference to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and a metaphor for God’s call on our hearts to be ‘fishers of men,’ sharing the Good News with others that they too may experience a personal relationship with Him.
