Style OPUSWEATER is a knitwear pattern instructions.

The pattern comes in a PDF file, and can be downloaded and printed from the computer.

The measurements are based on the size of the sweater after washing. It is recommended to stay true to size. The measurements are adjusted with the binding, both on sleeves and body and the sweater is supposed to be slim fit and it gives positive ease around 15/20 cm +.

Material

Suggested yarns:

Hand dyed mulberry silk from Thelma Steimann. The silk has a super soft quality, it’s fantastic yarn to work with and leaves a shiny and airy feeling to the garment. Approx 400m/100g in each skein.

Mulberry silk: 3/3/3/4/4/4/4    

or

Hand dyed fine organic merino from Thelma Steimann with a high twist, the yarn is 100% Organic merino wool. Approx 365m/100g in each skein. Wonderful and soft base to work with.

Fine organic: 3/4/4/4/4/4/4

Circular needles 40 and 80/100 cm in 3 mm.

2 x DPN for the straps / and optional for the sleeves 3 mm.

Tapestry needle for stitching the threads and sewing the edges on the opening of the body and sleeves.

Scrappy yarn or extra needles for keeping the stitches.

10 x stitch markers.

Tension gauge sample

Be sure to check your own tension before starting to knit.

Cast on 30 stitches and knit 40 rows on needles size 3 mm for a 10 x 10 cm sample. 

If tension measures too tight, change to a thicker needle.

If tension measures too wide, change to a thinner needle.

Good to know

The sweater is knitted top down back and forth for the most parts. Starting on the yoke with an increase and knitting for an open neckline, the yoke is connected in round after neckline has been knitted, and knitted from there in round. When the yoke is finished the sleeves are separated from the body by the armpits and thereafter the sweater is knitted in round for a while for both sleeves and body. Both body and sleeves are opened up for the keyhole that continues throughout the sweater, at that point the sweater is knitted from front and back with increase and decrease to make the holes. The edge in the neckline is knitted with the i cord technique, the same goes for the 3x straps knitted to thread through the holes for both sleeves and the body. The edges are stitched down from the wrong side, check out the images that guide you through how to fold and stitch for the keyholes and the hemline.

The quantity of yarn required is based on an average, and is therefore an approximate number. The sweater can be knitted in any yarn that consists of the same thickness as given in the tension gauge. Take note that the pattern gives options for additional cm throughout the project, so take note that if the sweater is knitted in bigger length then given up in the pattern, more yarn is required for the project.
