“Keep Up The Fight,” the Latin motto “PERGITE PROELIUM” found at the base of the Distinctive Unit Insignia of Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division aptly describes the brief history of the unit. Forged from scratch to prosecute the War on Terrorism on 16 September 2004, the Battalion deployed to combat four times over a period of less than ten years—and each time earned a Meritorious Unit Commendation for their exemplary service supporting the troops on the front lines of battle.
On 25 April 2014, the Battalion cased its colors during a formal inactivation ceremony for the 4th Brigade Combat Team held at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
