Yes, it is nice to find one of these with an old carved figure sitting inside it, but this kayak, hide tightly stretched over wooden frame and stitched with sinew (I love those seams) is quite a beautiful thing on its own. Inuit, likely Alaskan, and earlyish 20th century I believe. With one sinew thread stretched across the bow just in front of the seat which likely once secured a paddle.
12" x 1 3/8" x 1 3/4" t. Good condition, with one small hole in the hide right around the rim of the seat and a few loose ends of sinew thread around that perimeter. Sturdy and sound, nice patina, and sits up on its own.
