Navigating busy waterways or venturing offshore demands reliable communication and collision avoidance. The Raymarine Ray73 steps up as your boat's command center, blending robust VHF performance with an integrated AIS receiver to keep you informed and safe. Picture this: you're cruising through fog-shrouded channels, and the Ray73's AIS quietly tracks nearby vessels, feeding real-time data to your chartplotter for proactive maneuvers. Its oversized controls and crisp LCD display make it a breeze to use even with gloves on or in rough seas.
At the heart of the Ray73 is its Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC), which automates distress signals and position sharing—critical in emergencies. Pair that with the internal AIS receiver, and you gain eyes on surrounding traffic without extra hardware. This setup shines for recreational sailors, fishing charters, or commercial operators who need seamless integration with multifunction displays like the Axiom series. Unlike basic VHF units, the Ray73 overlays AIS targets directly onto your screens, turning potential hazards into manageable alerts.
Go beyond routine calls with loudhailer and fog signaling functions. Hook up an optional hailing horn to broadcast announcements to crew on deck or nearby boats, or let the unit chime automated fog tones compliant with international standards. For larger vessels, add RayMic handsets for multi-station control—perfect for flybridge-to-cockpit coordination or intercom chats. NMEA2000 and NMEA0183 compatibility ensures it plays nice with radars, autopilots, and instruments, creating a unified network.
The embedded 72-channel GPS/GNSS receiver locks onto satellites quickly, supporting WAAS and other SBAS for pinpoint accuracy—down to 5 meters with corrections. Mount below deck? Add an external antenna via the TNC connector for boosted reception. Power it with 12V DC (9-16V range), and enjoy up to 25W transmit power for clear reach across US, Canadian, and international channels, plus 72 NOAA weather bands with alerts to dodge storms.
Users rave about its durability—IPX6/IPX7 waterproofing shrugs off spray, and the rugged chassis handles -20°C to +60°C swings. Trunnion or flush mounting options fit any helm, styled to match modern Raymarine aesthetics.
To maximize your Ray73, position the antenna high with a clear 360° view for optimal VHF range. Regularly update channels via the intuitive menu, and test DSC with coast guard simulations during calm days. For noisier boats, tap the external speaker output to pipe audio to the salon. Maintenance is straightforward: wipe the LCD with a microfiber cloth, and store in a dry spot to preserve seals.

Ray73 VHF Radio with AIS Receiver
Raymarine’s Ray73 radiois communications central for your boat with built-in VHF, AIS andpublic-address capabilities. Built on our full-sized marine radio chassis, the Ray73 comes with oversized controls and a big screen for easy operation offshore.
Ray73 is a full-function VHF marine radio with Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC) and a built-in GPS receiver. Simply program your boat’s MMSI number into the Ray73 and immediately benefit from the enhanced calling and safety features of DSC. The Ray73 supports both NMEA2000 and legacy NMEA0183 networking which enables it to connect with other onboard electronics. Ray63 also supports the connectionof an optional remotespeaker (A80542) to provide audio at a second location.
Ray73 also comes with a built-in loudhailer output. Add the optional hailing horn (M95435) and use your Ray73 tocommunicate with crewmembers on deck, on the dock, or on another boat. The Ray73 can also generate manual or automatic fog signals with built-intone and gong sounds that comply with all international regulations.
Ray73 also supports dual control stationswith the addition of the optional RayMic second station kit. With an oversized LCD and simple controls, the RayMic is a compact all-in-one handset that fits easily on any secondary helm, tower or navigation station. Use RayMic for station-to-station intercom capability too.
Ray73 was designed to comply with the latest international regulations and includes a connection point for an optional GPS/GNSS antenna system. The optional antenna improves the GPS reception when the radio is mountedbelow deck, inan enclosed pilothouse, or inside a metal enclosure.
