A Full set of 19th Century Sewills of Liverpool Admiralty binoculars. These were made by Joseph Sewills during the reign of Queen Victoria. Supplied to the British Royal Navy rare makers stamped binoculars.
All four binoculars must be completely extracted to be able to use them and they measure in length - 350 - 400 - 420 - 510 mm. The optics are clear and clean (remembering they are over 150 years old), with the magnification (although not officially declared at the time) regarded as 8x - 10x - 12x - 14x, with an objective lens of 30 - 35 - 40 - 45 mm. This is an unusual and rare, fully working, collection with the largest set still having its original leather case.
