The 18th Infantry Regiment's colors were uncased during recent V-E day ceremonies at the Regimental CP. The staff is laden with battle streamers, some of which carry names of two and three battles. The earliest date back to the Civil War, and the Western Indian campaigns. The Philippine Insurrection, the Spanish-American War, and World War I are represented with appropriate streamers. They are in order: "Mississippi," "Kentucky," "Murfreesbourgh," "Tennessee," "Georgia," "Chickamaugua," and "Atlanta," all campaigns in which the Regiment took part. "Wyoming," 1867," and "Montana, 1882" are reminders of the 18th Infantry campaigns against the Indians, "Manilla" is the streamer carried for the Spanish-American War, and Iloilo" and "Panay" record engagements of the Insurrectionists. World War I streamers include "Lorraine," "Picardy," "Montidier," "Noyen." Streamers of these campaigns are of the material of the French Criox de Guerre in lieu of that award to xxx xxxxxx xxxx. Streamers of the engagements in Africa, Sicily, and on the Continent for World War II have not yet been added to the colors of the Regiment, but indications are they will be soon.
