A pair of 19th Century South American spurs
In his book "Eperons de tous les temps tous les pays" Georges Nabera-Sartoulet describes this style of spur as "called Louis XIV" because of the king's influence on South America's spurs.
The spurs are made of iron or steel with a dark finish
Each arm of the heel band ends in a diamond shape with two slots for straps.
The heel bands have cast and chiselled decoration.
Each spur has a small round heelplate.
The necks are pierced with a kidney shape .
The large rowels have nineteen sharp points and still turn freely
