The "Independence" Note: Issued just two years after independence.
Obverse: Features the youthful portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II on the right and the national Coat of Arms in the center.
Reverse: Showcases the Central Bank Building in Port of Spain and an illustration of an offshore oil rig, symbolizing the nation's burgeoning energy industry.
Color: Predominantly vibrant Red.
Note 2: 1 Dollar (1977-1979 Series) – P-30
The "Republic" Note: Following the 1976 declaration of a Republic, the portrait of the Queen was replaced by national symbols.
