Once on display at the NMRN, curated there as being from HMS Lowestoft, with no signs of weathering it is our assessment that this wasn’t the screen badge but was mounted internally, almost definitely in the Officers Wardroom.
HMS Lowestoft (F103) was a Rothesay‑class (Type 12M) anti‑submarine frigate of the Royal Navy, laid down in June 1958, launched in June 1960 and commissioned in October 1961. She underwent major modernisation in 1967‑69, gaining a Westland Wasp helicopter, Seacat missile system and upgraded radar and fire control. In the late 1970s she served as a prototype trials ship for towed‑array sonar. During the Falklands War in 1982 she acted as guardship at Ascension Island. She was decommissioned in March 1985 and sunk as a target by a Tigerfish torpedo in June 1986
