Fit & Compatibility

How To Use

1. Lift the top tray frame off and fill the plexiglass inner chamber with cold water — keep the level just above the diffuser, no higher. Lower the top frame back on.
2. Snap the magnetic hose into the connector port on the side of the EXZO body.
3. Set your draw — rotate the 4-position diffuser to find your preferred resistance (1 for open and light, 4 for dense and tight).
4. Place your chosen bowl onto the silicone cone seat — the seal grips any standard bowl type.
5. Top with foil and coconut charcoal, or fit a heat management device on the tray.
6. Press the remote to power on the LED and dial in the colour and brightness.
7. Draw to start the session. Exhale gently into the mouthpiece to purge — smoke vents from beneath the tray in a cascading waterfall.

Care & Maintenance

• Plexiglass inner chamber: after each session, lift the top frame off, empty the chamber and rinse with warm water and a soft cloth only. Never use alcohol, abrasives or aggressive chemicals — they will permanently damage the plexiglass.
• The stainless steel outer shell and top tray frame both lift off if you want full access for a deeper clean — wipe each with a soft damp cloth, dry, and reassemble.
• Wipe the stainless steel shaft, bowl cone, tray and mesh with a damp cloth once they've cooled.
• Remove the diffuser to rinse the screen separately.
• Keep the magnetic hose port dry and wipe away any sticky residue with a soft cloth.
• LED housing and remote: keep dry, wipe externally only — never submerge.
• Store disassembled in the presentation box when not in regular use.

What's the difference between the Smart Box EXZO and the Alpha Hookah X?

Format. The X is a traditional stem set that pairs with a separate glass base. The Smart Box EXZO is a self-contained cubic unit — plexiglass water chamber, stainless steel shaft, removable outer shell, LED and tray all in one body. Both share Alpha's engineering pedigree, but the Smart Box is built specifically for apartments, travel and gifting.

Is the top frame removable?

Yes. The stainless steel top tray frame lifts off vertically for water filling and cleaning access. The coal mesh insert sitting inside it can also be lifted out and used separately — handy as a coal rest beside the hookah when you're shaping or rotating charcoal during a session. The outer side shell also lifts off the chamber if you want full access to the plexiglass walls for a deep clean.

Does the Smart Box come with a bowl or heat management device?

No. The Smart Box ships complete — plexiglass chamber, stainless steel inner shaft, removable outer shell, LED with remote, hose, mouthpiece with handle, top tray frame, coal mesh, diffuser, magnetic port and silicone bowl seal — but the bowl and heat source are your choice. The cone seat takes any standard phunnel or traditional clay bowl, and the tray works with both charcoal-and-foil and HMDs.

How does the LED work?

The LED is integrated into the lower housing inside the EXZO shell and operated by the included remote. It backlights the plexiglass chamber from below and within, picking up the water and smoke movement throughout the session. The remote controls colour and brightness — set it once and forget it, or shift it through the night.

What is the waterfall purge?

When you exhale into the hose to clear stale air, the smoke vents downward and out from beneath the tray in a cascading sheet — Alpha calls it the waterfall purge. It's the Smart Box's signature visual moment, and the reason most sessions on this hookah end up on camera.

Will third-party hoses fit the magnetic port?

The Smart Box uses Alpha's proprietary magnetic connector. The included Soft Touch silicone hose is engineered to match it perfectly. Third-party hoses will only fit if they have a compatible magnetic adapter — for spares or upgrades, see our mouthpieces and hoses collection.
