Book Context
A devoted couple both sell the thing most precious to them to buy a Christmas gift for their partner, only to discover that they got gifts the other can no longer use. This is an example of cosmic irony, where despite people’s best efforts, they are thwarted by forces outside of human control.

Notes on Scent
I chose scents that the three wise men of the Bible story would have been familiar with. The result is bright, earthy, and a little sweet.

Notes on Texture
This is a thick coated clear with a subtle iridescent shimmer. The topper is super packed, and adds a satisfying textural crunch.

Based on the book cover design of the 1906 first edition collection of short stories that first contained The Gift of the Magi.
