The Clynelish distillery was first established in 1819 by the Marquis of Stafford. After some ups and downs due to the recession and World War II, the modern Cylnelish distillery was built in 1968. With a copper-domed mash tun, 8 Oregon pine wash back and 6 large stills, might we add.. These two distilleries operated side-by-side until 1983, when the original distillery was closed.

We’ve gotten our hands on this limited edition bottle of Clynelish 22 Year Old. It was distilled in 1972 and bottled for Diageo's now-discontinued Rare Malts Selection. The Rare Malts were a series of cask strength whiskies first released in 1995. A rare and hard-to-find collectable, we definitely wouldn’t kick this one out of bed.
