Perfect for nail art, weird experiments, or anything else you can possibly think of. Atomized Greyscale Thermodust sits black when cool, then fades through industrial greys into white as it warms up. It’s sharp, minimal, and deeply satisfying to watch happen in real time.

The switch is centred at around 29°C, with the pure black and white happening a few degrees either side.

Mixes easily into paints, polishes, gels, resins, glues and other compatible mediums. Trigger it with body heat, warm surfaces, or temperature shifts in the environment. The effect is reversible, repeatable, and ideal for making surfaces that feel reactive, engineered, and alive.

Mix with nail polish to create a fascinating effect: It's black if you're cold, white if you're warm, or if you're just right, you'll see a smooth gradient between the colours, as the tips cool from the air, while the base warms from your body heat.

Please be aware that this product has a shelf-life of around 2 years in a room temperature environment. It will bleach in the sun over a couple of weeks, and will lose its effectiveness if kept noticeably above it's change temperature, so isn't recommended for painting permanent things like cars, houses, or anything that will sit in the sun, nor anything that gets very hot, like radiators, engines etc. Store away from direct sunlight.

The science of thermochromic pigment:

• Thermochromic pigments use tiny heat-sensitive microcapsules that alter their optical properties as temperature changes.
• When cool, the pigment appears dark. As heat increases, the capsule system changes size, altering it's reflective wave-length, causing the colour to brighten until it appears white.
• Atomized Greyscale Thermodust has been engineered for a dramatic black-to-white bi-colour greyscale transition at the temperature that the extremities of the human body sit at.
