A Charming Stainless Steel Avia Manual Wind Dress Watch with an Attractive Silver Dial, c.1950s

The history of Avia watches goes back to the latter end of the 19th century. The company was a pioneer in the production of wristwatches made under their own brand name and provided watches and movements for other brands including New York, The Ball Watch company and Wittnauer.

What’s On Offer 

A charming Avia dress watch paired with a Bonklip style bracelet on offer, a really nice looking little vintage piece with plenty of character. The movement is a manual wind 15 jewel calibre from AS, but the actual number is not visible. The dial is really nicely preserved and boasts a simple yet elegant design comprising Arabic numerals, a recessed sub-seconds dial at 6 o'clock and blued leaf hands. The case is chrome topped and does show a little colour peeping through, but this is a 1950s watch and we expect to see that - all part of its character. At 30mm this is a fairly slight watch proportion wise, however it does wear larger on the wrist and is very light and comfortable. This would make a great entry watch into vintage collecting, but also a beautiful addition to any collection.
