Our donegal tweed coating fabric is the real deal. Donegal tweed is a general term for loose Irish tweed of speckled appearance. Famous for its warmth and durability, its name is taken from the county of Donegal in Ireland. It's characterized by its plain weave structure composed of uneven slub yarns contrasted with the ground color. This yarn - known as “Kilcarra Donegal” - is the only genuine donegal yarn still spun in Ireland. We love this fabric (and always have) for it's weight (20oz), durability (only gets better with age) and versatility (dress is up or down) - not to mention its unique texture and depth (look closely at the “flecks” of yarns in many similar colors).
