Woven from local bamboo from the southern part of Gunma Prefecture, this basket has long been used as a tool for agriculture and daily life in Japan. Use to wash vegetables and rice, to dry herbs, or even as a serving platter for fruits and other snacks.

The mouth of the basket is wrapped with cherry tree bark, and the rim is reinforced with copper wire for durability. The tip of the wire is sandwiched between the bamboo, making it safe to handle without fear of scraping or cutting. The colour of bamboo will slowly turn from fresh green to deep brown over time and use, while adding a rich character of patina on the basket.

Due to the nature of the material, there may be slight variations in size, colour or texture than what is pictured. Please note that these are not defects, but unique characteristics that serve to enhance the beauty of each piece.
