When I saw this dress at the Fall 2017 opening day of a church thrift store in a tony town nearby, I didn't know it was a Molly Parnis.

All I knew what that it was well-made, metal zipper, and had a killer silhouette. Done. I put it in my cart and kept shopping because this little basement shop is full of high end goodies and people were out in full force.

Then when I got home, and started looking a little closer at my purchases, I saw the Molly Parnis tag on the bottom inside seam of this dress and almost died.

Molly Parnis dressed first ladies. Molly Parnis had an eye for design. Molly Parnis makes beautiful clothes with beautiful fabrics across the board. I had just found a Molly Parnis that was in excellent shape and was so classic, and wearable, and make you look like a million-bucks-able, it wasn't even funny.

For a vintage treasure hunter, this was a winner of a day. Sigh.

As for the Milgrim label? I had to look this one up. And here's what I found from Mrs. Milgrim's obituary (she died at 103!):

"The Milgrim shop emphasized quality dresses that were ready to wear at a time when high fashion was still a world of made-to-order styles and custom-made tailored suits.

One of Mrs. Milgrim's best-known designs was a light blue gown worn by Eleanor Roosevelt to her husband's first inaugural ball, in 1933. Mrs. Milgrim also made dresses for the entertainers Marilyn Miller, Ethel Merman, Pearl White, Mary Pickford and others."
