Rameau, who was active in the late French Baroque, is, according to Vikingle, the next greatest composer after Bach. Rameau broke conventional rules and was always oriented toward the future.Debussy, on the other hand, was still a forward-looking composer who pioneered Impressionism, but his music was rooted in the French Baroque. Both were keyboard poets who gave beautiful titles to their compositions, and both were brothers in search of new music; they performed excerpts from this album on their December 2019 tour of Japan, impressing and surprising audiences with their exquisite programming, innovative interpretations, and perfectly controlled touch and tone.
