Stefani was an Italian Baroque composer/organist/clergyman. His works were popular not only in Italy but also in Germany, especially in Dusseldorf and Munich, as well as in London, where he was even elected honorary president for life of the "London Academy of Ancient Music". The opera "Bacchanalia" was written in 1695, when Hanover was at the height of its popularity. It is a pastoral opera written for Georg Ludwig (George I), Elector of Hanover, who later became King of England. The story is filled with joyful and beautiful sounds, including the recitation of poems. Recorded live at the 42nd Valle d'Itria Music Festival in July 2016.
